A few weeks back I ran across the story of John Titor (here and here). Anyway, I read through some of the posts and kinda chuckled at the absurdity of it all, but in the back of my mind I had this haunting feeling that this hoax had a remarkable amount of truth to it.
Now, don’t take me wrong — I don’t believe the story one bit. But it was amazing that while reading this story I found myself seeing parts of the story not as farfetched as one might assume a story about a time traveler from 2036 sent back to 1975 to retrieve an IBM 5100. Particularly eerie were his “predictions” of trouble in the mideast and political struggles related to them in the United States. I can’t help but feel that this next election is going to be critically important for the sake of the safety and wellbeing of the entire world. And I’m not talking about the desire to continue to make the rich get richer under the false precept that we must rid the world of all terrorists (anyone who doesn’t drive Ford or Chevy, belong in the NRA, or say misunderestimate).
Anyway, back to the reason I was prompted to post this original. I titled the entry Mad Cow purely because I remembered John Titor claiming that Mad Cow would become a huge problem in the US. And then this week, what else hits our beef markets… none other than bovine spongiform encephalopathy (say THAT three times fast!) Like I said, I don’t believe that anyone traveled back from 2036 to pick up and IBM mainframe, but this guy clearly knew how to strike in to the fears of his readers. Maybe more than he possible knew given the current political scene we’re faced with in Iraq, Afganistan, North Korea, and most importantly, the United States.
I recently finished reading Dude Where’s My Country and I couldn’t help but get super motivated by Michael Moore’s message to do whatever it takes to keep Bush from being reelected next year. I truly, truly believe he has caused far more harm to this country than anyone else, including Bin Laden (I expect to get quite a bit of slack for that one… feel free to write me or comment).
I’m currently reading Treason, which I must say is a terrible book. Not because I don’t agree with anything Ann Coulter says, but because she writes so poorly. The first few pages of the book are filled with such venom (and NO humour!) that I could barely stand to finish the first chapter. However, out of respect for various points of view, I plan to complete this book so I can fully understand the issues both the left and right cannot seem to ever agree on. Most of all, I’m searching for understanding, though maybe there are better books that can offer that without being so utterly hateful.

You said you’re forcing yourself to read Ann Coulter? Why spend valuable time on two of most vitriolic and extreme authors in the political spectrum? All you’re doing is exposing yourself to the worst of both sides. Aside from that, Michael Moore has been exposed as being willfully factually incorrect on many occaisions, and Ann Coulter … well I think she may be a racist … I’m not one to say though. Anyway, if you’re looking for more reasoned views from the political right to really hear what the other side is saying, I’d reccommend Victor Davis Hanson and George Will for starters. National Review and The Weekly Standard are good for hearing from all manner of conservative voices, some more extreme than others (heck I’m a conservative/moderate and some of the people on there are too far for me). But really people like Michael Moore and Al Franken, Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, only really serve the “neener-neener” market; name calling under the guise of political commentary. They appeal to their respective markets because they reaffirm a persons political beliefs in one of the more objectionable ways, exposing the faults of the opposing side and laying on as much hate-disguised-as-humor as can be gotten away with. Anyway, it’s just a suggestion. I commend you for at least attempting to expose yourself to other points of view, it’s refreshing in a world of blogs where so much of what you get is “Bush is Hitler and I refuse to listen to anything else” kind of thing. Peace.

I recently found the John Titor story on the net.
And out of a interest, looked around for comments on it. I find it kind of strange that from the way he tells the story, that people of the lean left, seem to think that it is Bush who starts all the problems.
Any of you ever read any of the hate towards the right, and the things that are say’d by the left.
Bush=Hitler, all the right is hate, we want to destory the left, we want to take away your rights.
I find it interesting, because the left are the ones who want a nanny state, you want to take my money to give to people who never earned it, you think the goverment can do anything and solve everything… sounds a lot like Johns future war to me…
I have a lot of doubt about time travel… but who was he really taking about taking away rights…

I found the john titor story myself tonight. I don’t recall right now exactly how it was brought before me though. Anyway. I figure I’ll ramble a bit on your page because this is what I do. I’m pretty deranged and eccentric myself, and i’m quite paranoid. So I already figured alot of this was coming. But I never expected to read about it in quite this fashion. I don’t know wether or not I believe it, I read nov-jan so far on http://www.johntitor.com.. Going to finish it tomorrow. It’s like a book I don’t want to put down. I’m from Omaha, NE. I found it quite alarming that Omaha was claimed to be the center of the “new america” after the civil war and WWIII and so on.. I dunno.. I’m just going to say nobody really seems to know what’s at strategic command (widely known as sac - strategic air command, but it was upgraded to full strategic command in the early 90s.. obviously quietly because people across the net and on the news still call it sac).. I noticed when i was younger and visiting friends over there alot that there sure were alot of trucks for 8 months or so leaving with tons of dirt.. So when that change happened, something huge was obviously built underground there..
I dunno.. Damned paranoia.
Oh the main reason I was driven to post is because of this whole state of martial law that already is trying to take over the country.. That’s what I was thinking, which i wanted to post. Oh, sorry, not martial law, “patriot act”. My fault. Because it’s not martial law when alot of heavily armed and armoured government soldiers basicly raid buildings and detain people without needing to say why or even release them.. give people their status.. etc..
That’s the patriot act.. Yeah…
Civil War.. I could subscribe to that. Hell yeah. Not in 2000/2001, but now? … Yeah.

I really doubt that the guy came from 2036 in a time machine. If he did then the government or the CIA would have been very interested in him. I do believe, though, that a big international war is possible in the near future. Still probably not an American civil war.

John Titor! good show! what he syas is utterly true. For you see, he talks about how hydrogen fuel cells become, well, more used, and there is more tech and research. they are used more often. guess what, they recently came out with a car that has a hydrogen fuel cell. though it still ahs some bugs. about the tension between the arabs and jews. yes that is true. it is becoming more frequent, and WMD will probaly be launched at each other. some say they don’t ahve any. but it is obvious they do. He also has some clues about the destruction of america. 1. Russia launching nukes at the us. 2. he says something about the goverment changing the us flag. from 50 to 5. 3. he also says taht the nukes will be launched at the major capitals of Umerica. He also says that yu should not eat anything that eats its own kind. And the mad cow scare, how he talks about that. guess what, mad cow is affecting our markets. he also says that america will ahve a revolution in 2005. there will be one. trust me. i know. He also says something about nukes also being launched at europe and china. some say why those countries. because china has quite a population do not you agree. that may come useful in wars. they also have many researchers in various sciences. sure so does america japan, and canada, but who is making the most new discoveries, in medical procedures the most in vaccines? europe. why would it be attacked? u see they have not only strong armies, but they are close to russia(same with china) they could pose a great threat. by why wouldn’t nukes be launched at Canada, another large nation. Well you see, Canadians do not believe in war. sure they have an army. but it is used for peacekeeping, not the american way. also says various things about the enviroment. about the ice caps. we should not worry about them as he says. for water expands when it changes into ice. pollution isn’t that bad in 2036 he says. that would be true. for you see, if the nukes did destroy many capitals, they would greatly reduce the pollution from factories cars etc. he also talks about how ther are very little cars. that also reduces pollution. all adds up don’t u think? Sure you may say that i am like John, but you know what? if you read it over a few times, if you put it up as well, you will believe. but you won’t. as he says, you are too self centered. care too much about what is going on in your personal life, care too little of what your effects might be. the war, and the whole future of our universe is unavoidable. it won’t matter, it can’t be avoided, no matter what anyone does. trust me!

I cant say if I do or dont believe John and his “stories”… But I do believe that everyone that has read what he has to say, has looked into what he has said and have tired to find ways that he is right. Weather or not you say you dont believe him or you do, there is a part in all of you that does and does not believe what he has said. I dont believe that his world line is 2% off of ours, if what he said is true then it will all go as it is suppsoe to. and our world will be like his. I believe he only said that to make it so the overly paranoid people wouldnt freak out to much and would hold on to the hope of that 2% chance of his events not happening to us.
I havent read through all of his posts, it was gettin late and I was gettin tired, but I did read a good portion of them, and some things do add up and somethings dont, but of course the only real way to see if what he said was true or not is to wait and find out, no sence in arguing about if he is right or not when johns “civil War” happens then I suppose we will know weather or not he was real and telling the truth.
Dont let your fear blind you from what might be true and dont let you nieve natures believe everything you read on the internet.

I also have read the John Titor posts. I found them very entertaining, a good read, even if you’re not bored. Even though I can’t bring myself to believe it ( being a total cynic of everything ) There are still parts of what he said that stick with me. If all this is a hoax, He is definately a great writer or scam artist. Regardless, I enjoyed it. Thank you for putting it out there.

The “Militarization of The Police” has been well documented, including by a Seattle attorney named Paul Richmond (a civil rights attorney). Google him- he has a documentary which is fantastic. I, personally, have been videoed by the police at anti-war protests… and I’ve seen exactly what Titor is talking about in terms of gestapo tactics used against us. Riot tanks, shotguns, overwhelming force, and “non-lethal” weaponry. John Titor was dead on. He wasn’t close, he hit that nail exactly, and all you have to do is scratch the surface to get to the truth. Read the transcripts of the second USAPatriot Act, if you don’t believe me.
I discovered John Titor last summer. I’ve been very active in the Democratic Party since Bush took office and I’ve been working my ass off to get him back out again. I was, and am, one of those Howard Dean supporters who call themselves “Deaniacs.” So when I read about what Titor claimed was coming down the line for the election of 2004, I said to myself “ok, lets just see about this.” I waited and watched. Don’t get me wrong- I found the entire John Titor story the best, most compelling piece of science fiction I’ve ever read. Even the medium (internet blogs) was genius. A story as profound as “War of the Worlds” must have been when broadcast on radio as a real, live, breaking news event. Face it- it is compelling! I couldn’t stop reading. I WANTED to believe. But I also want to believe in Frodo and Middle Earth- but believing just don’t make it so.
Now we have a Congressional investigation of fraud in Ohio, being lead by Representative John Conyers, with criminal probes by the FBI, and the rumor that the Senate will contest the election on January 6th, 2005. The national news media has ignored the story (with the exception of Keith Olberman on MSNBC). It isn’t idle speculation- there was wide-spread, systematic fraud. Google it, you can’t overlook it. Exactly HOW widespread, HOW organized, etc… is part of the investigation, but if the Senate contests the election on January 6th, we have a full blown Constitutional Crisis on our hands. How the media handles it, how the activists handle it, and how the public handles it will go a long way (I think) to determining how closely we follow the purported time-line, but the mere existance of Titor’s prediction involving the election, with me looking to see what would happen, and the slow-motion unfolding of events in Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico, and Florida in relation to the 2004 elections has me absolutely tripping out.
I’m still skeptical; and at this point, I’m also aware that if you go looking for purple rhinos and you look hard enough, you’ll find a purple rhino.
But I’m revisiting John Titor, again. And I’m looking in the newsgroups to see if anyone else has said “holy shit,” like me. I’m looking for the first “Wako-type event” to take place in one of the contested states. And I’m looking at Russian interest and alleged covert-participation in the Ukrainian elections, including the dioxin poisoning of the opposition leader who purportedly won by a comfortable margin in the election, but lost when the votes were counted. You know, the exit poll disparity that we, too, saw in our 2004 presidential election…
Pakistani leader Musharreff has had two assassination attempts on his life recently, by the Muslim Brotherhood. If they succeed, they’ll install a clerical government friendlier to the Islaamic hard-liners than the taliban was. An Iranian big brother. A nuclear-armed player in the clash of civilizations. Talk has been floated about an Israeli air strike against Iranian nuclear facilities (much like the successful strike against the Iraqi facility in the 80s)… well, if they do, and fail, OR: if they do and succeed but the Muslim Brotherhood takes out Musharreff, THEN- John Titor is correct about the middle east being destroyed. Because it’ll be bye-bye Sharon, bye-bye Israel.
Left? Right? You know, that is an artificial description that doesn’t really exist. It is a distraction of the real social division of Haves/ Have-nots. It’s a divide and conquer strategy that works against us, but works well. And though I can get good and partisan, and I actually am a Leftist (thank God for Air America Radio)- I DO know how our society is divided, and I vote accordingly. Unfortunately, there isn’t much out there to vote for who walk the populist walk. RIP Wellstone. With that said, I find it striking what Titor says about party politics, and how unpartisan an issue the civil war and it’s aftermath are.
I’ve ranted enough. I’m going to go watch the election investigations. Merry Xmas.

I’ve just read the whole JT story and all i can say is ” it’s a well thought out hoax”
John Titor said that he went online to get to know the people of our generation better. He could have done that without verbalizing that he was a time traveler. By using the name timetraveler_00 it proved that he was just out looking for attention and an ego stroke.
The parallels between the Titor story and the Terminator movies are obviously evident. For example, 3 billion die in a nuclear war, John is the name of the leader of the human resistance, and the letters from the word “Terminator” can spell “Titor.”
There are obvious logical flaws in his story. For example, if he can’t return to his original world line then what is the point of going on the mission in the first place?
You can’t time travel because the future doesn’t exist. There are no world-lines where a different version of yourself is carrying out a different life. The future can only exist because of decisions being made in the here and now.
I’d also like to add that the “Titor Saga” began at TimeTravelInstitute.com where John Titor first posted and it ultimately leads to Celebration, Florida. Now Time Travel Institute itself leads to Celebration, Florida.
Celebration Florida is “all Disney” and both TimeTravelInstitute and Magical Mouse lead back to Disney Corp. This evidence has caused Timetravelinstitute.com Webmaster Raul Burrier to state that he knows who John Titor really is but refuses to give his identity. Now many people believe that timetravelinstitute.com was set up purely for the hoax and the webmaster of the site was involved somehow.
The John Titor foundation attorney Larry Haber and his son Brandon Haber are both linked to Celebration, Florida, The Book, the Radio Promo, Coffee Mugs, T-shrts, etc. All these different men being linked to Celebration, FL really is a strange coincidence.

hey hey guys,
Its really me!! I’m back from the future and I got some more predictions! Aliens will invade us in the year 2043 and will systematically probe the earths entire female population - Anally.
And the women will really enjoy it.
Anyway I’m back off to the future in my “back to the future” Car Whatchamacallit Machine. I came back to buy as much Hardcore porn as I could so We could take the fight to those Rectum Probing aliens bastards. Since we all got all religious and family orientated after WW3, porn is very difficult to get a hold of, hence my return. My superiors advised me that only movies starring Rocco Siffredi and Max hardcore should be brought back. Strange, I have never read about those two individuals in history books. Maybe my world line differs significantly to yours when it comes to Hardcore Porn.
Now I’m off … Our people have a saying : live long and prosper. And remember:
I’LL BE BACK!
